I am John Morgan. I am running for Representative, North Carolina House district 113. I have lived in Saluda, NC since 1997. I began my working life as an accountant, then chose to join the Air Force during the Vietnam war. I served in management and as a pilot for 21 years. In the course of that career, I had the privilege to meet and fly two Presidents, three Vice Presidents, three First Ladies and most Members of Congress. I left the Air Force to join Atlas Air as a 747 captain and check airman for 12 years, then as a simulator and classroom instructor for an additional 13 years. During my tenure at Atlas, I served as a commissioner for the City of Saluda with the duty of overseeing the water and sewar infrastructure. My wife and I own a small business in Saluda that provides housing for full time residents, including local business employees and seniors. I have a BS in accounting, and an MBA. I am married, have two children and two grandchildren. My name is John Morgan, and I’m running to represent North Carolina House District 113. I’ve lived in Saluda, NC since 1997. I started my career as an accountant, but then I chose to join the Air Force during the Vietnam War. I served for 21 years as both a manager and a pilot. During that time, I had the honor of meeting and flying two Presidents, three Vice Presidents, three First Ladies, and many Members of Congress. After leaving the Air Force, I became a 747 captain for Atlas Air for 12 years. I then spent 13 more years teaching as a simulator and classroom instructor. While working at Atlas, I also served as a commissioner for the City of Saluda, where I helped oversee the city’s water and sewer systems. My wife and I run a small business in Saluda that provides housing for full time residents, including local workers and seniors. I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA. I’m married, and I have two children and two grandchildren. Values, John values education; the opportunity to learn and make decisions. He values economic opportunity, both from properly paying employment options, and from the capability of living within those means. He has demonstrated over his 21 year Air Force career and his 26 years as an Airline Captain and Training instructor that he is honest, trustworthy, responsible and accountable. Values Statement I believe public service is a trust that must be earned every day through integrity and honesty. My approach to leadership is rooted in principled decision making and ethical governance, ensuring that every choice reflects transparency, fairness, and respect for the people I serve. I work in a collaborative spirit, bringing diverse voices to the table and building solutions through partnership rather than division. I am committed to expanding opportunity for all, recognizing that strong communities grow when everyone has a fair chance to succeed. Challenges don’t intimidate me—they motivate me. I take a problem solving approach to public issues, focusing on practical steps, shared responsibility, and long term outcomes that strengthen our communities and honor the trust placed in me.
