Hello
My name is John Morgan, and I’m running as an independent for the North Carolina House in District 113. I believe public service is a responsibility that must be earned every day by being honest and doing the right thing. I make decisions based on strong values, and I work to be open, fair, and respectful to everyone I represent.

I believe in working together. I listen to different voices and look for solutions that bring people together instead of dividing them. I want everyone in our community to have a real chance to succeed, because strong communities grow when opportunities are open to all.

I’m not afraid of tough problems—they push me to work harder. I focus on practical steps, shared responsibility, and long‑term results that make our communities stronger.

When elected, I will focus on:
-
Growing our local economy while making sure people have safe, affordable places to live
-
Making sure our public schools are properly funded
-
Supporting Medicaid and improving access to health care
My Story
I began my career as an accountant before choosing to serve my country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Over 21 years, I worked as both a manager and a pilot, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During my service, I had the privilege of meeting and flying two Presidents, three Vice Presidents, three First Ladies, and many Members of Congress — experiences that deepened my respect for leadership grounded in integrity and responsibility.

After retiring from the Air Force, I continued my aviation career as a 747 captain with Atlas Air for 12 years, followed by 13 years as a simulator and classroom instructor. While working at Atlas, I also served as a commissioner for the City of Saluda, where I oversaw the city’s water and sewer systems and gained firsthand experience with the infrastructure needs of small communities.

My wife and I operate a small business in Saluda that provides housing for full‑time residents, including local workers and seniors. I hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA, and I’m proud to be a husband, father of two, and grandfather of two.

I have called Saluda home since 1997. This community has shaped my life and my commitment to public service. I truly love the western North Carolina mountains, farms and towns. With my aviation career, I really could live anywhere in the world. I chose Saluda.
